How to get business results with your blog

A lot of people struggle with their blogs.

They want to know what to write about that will actually lead to business results (more members).

The thing about blogging is that there is no silver bullet. There is no one article that will save the day.

But you can get results with your blog if you think in one overarching principle: create content that is useful to your target market in and of itself.

There are a lot of ways to be useful. You can share your opinions, inspire people, entertain people, educate people, or you can tell stories.

Think about your local newspaper. They sell ads. How? Through attention.

How do they get attention? By gathering and publishing information that is useful to their readers.

So, if you’re struggling with your blog, I want you to think of yourself as a media publication first.

Report on your members, your new staff members, your events, your participation in the local business community, and basically anything else that contributes to the experience of a member. Tell stories about literally anything.

While your entire strategy won’t be made up of stories, it’s a good place to start. It breaks down the fear people might have about joining your space by showcasing all the best features of your community from the inside out.

Through stories, you’ll be able to demonstrate your values and what makes you unique. Your current members will love keeping up with the times and will especially love it when you feature them or their business.

With any luck, current members will look forward to each of your stories and even go as far as to share them with their network, which is gold.

You’ll also help the right prospective members get more comfortable with your space. They will see what it’s like to be a member and the right ones will jump right in.

Try it. Get your reporter hat on and let me know how it goes!
